TURNAROUND AND THE PREREQUISITE ATTRIBUTES (2) (Monday, 3rd November 2025)
Text for Today: 2 Kings 2:1-15 “…Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you? Elisha said, Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” (vs. 9).
Many so-called believers enjoy confessing and claiming the promises of God without commensurate attributes that is deserving of it. Another covenant child we want to consider his attendant attributes which facilitated his outstanding life and the turnaound he enjoyed is Elisha: (2 Kings 2:9) is another classic example of a man who received the blessings of double portion. Attributes – He was not a son who inherited the blessing from a natural father, but from a spiritual father—Elijah. The prophet Elijah had many spiritual sons, but Elisha had several characteristics that promoted him above other sons of the prophet. Elisha was a servant to Elijah! He was industrious, hardworking, steadfast, and loyal. When he is first mentioned in scripture, we find him laboring in the field with twelve yoke of oxen, 1 Kings 19:19.
Elisha never allowed boredom or laziness to rule his life. He was a man of purpose that valued relationship: Elisha never became arrogant or independent after receiving the good teaching and prophetic mantle from his spiritual father, Elijah. He remained teachable and loyal to his master right up to the time of their parting. Do you want experience turnaround? Be a man/woman of purpose that values relationships. Oh, by the way, who is your spiritual father? Don’t make a mess of your relationship with your spiritual father, because he is the instrument God will use for you. You want to experience turn around, do what Job, Elisha and Joseph did, and you will get what they got.
