YOUR ATTITUDE DETERMINES YOUR ALTITUDE IN LIFE (Friday, 12th September 2025)
Text for Today: Gen. 4:1-14 “So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen.” (vs. 6).
Attitude is a settled way of thinking or feeling about something. There’s no way we can separate your attitude from the kind of results that accompany our lives. No wonder the Bible says in Prov. 23:7 that, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” This means you cannot afford to have a wrong attitude, if it’s your desire to go very far in life and fulfill your purpose. I wish to hit this point hard home because many destinies have been destroyed because of wrong attitude. It’s been said many times over that “your attitude determines your altitude”. Your attitude determines what will happen next in your life. We will be considering a number of wrong attitudes we must avoid in our day to day living.
Attitude 1: BEING ANGRY AT WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR ANOTHER PERSON. So, the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door.” Gen. 4:6-7. That is the attitude of some people. Abel’s offering was accepted by God, but Cain was not happy about it. Attitude 2: THINKING THAT GOD OWES YOU SOMETHING AND YOU FAIL TO GIVE THANKS. When you think that what God has done for you is your right, you will ultimately not go far in life. In Luke 17:15-19, ten lepers were healed; nine of them were Jews, while one was a Samaritan. He came back to give thanks. The others saw it as a right. They probably thought, “After all, Jesus is my cousin, he should heal me.” I’ve seen this attitude in different spheres of life.
You are a Champion!
Further Study: Luke 17:11-19.
