Sunday Service (1st March 2026)

Covenant Day of Thanksgiving

Monthly Focus: Covenant Keeping God

Ministering: Pastor Wole Dahunsi

Texts: Deuteronomy 7:9

Opening Charge: It is good to give thanks to the Lord. Psalms 92:1. Thanksgiving must be a regular occurrence in our lives.

Core Message

=> Our God is the covenant-keeping God, and there is no one like Him.

=> Deuteronomy 7:9 is another way to describe the attributes and personality of God.

=> The God we serve is a faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations. He is never tired.

What is a Covenant?

=> A covenant is an agreement, a treaty, a contract, that is made between two or more people.

=> There is a realm of blessing and a realm of covenant.

=> Before Mount Moriah, when Abraham took Isaac to God, he was operating in the realm of blessing. On that Mount, God took him into the realm of covenant and established His covenant with him.

=> Covenant is binding.

Areas where God has made a covenant with His children (i.e, everyone who has a relationship with Jesus Christ)

1. God has promised to supply your needs according to His riches. Philippians 4:19; Deuteronomy 28:6.

2. God has promised to always provide a way of escape when temptation comes. 1 Corinthians 10:13.

3. God has promised His Holy Spirit to intercede for His children and that all things shall work together for our good. Romans 8:26-27.

=> The Trinity (God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit).

** All through the Old Testament, God was relating with His children. In the New Testament, Jesus came (the Son). When Jesus left, the Holy Spirit took over.

4. God has promised to satisfy us with a long life. Long life is a covenant – Covenant of life or longevity. Psalms 91:16.

=> To claim this covenant, you also need to manage your life and health.

=> When you live long, you will witness many glories.

Key Takeaways

1. God expects Thanksgiving to come from the living, not from the dead. Is. 38:18.

2. For as long as He lives, God cannot nullify His covenant with you.

3. Provision is a fulfillment of God’s covenant.

4. There is a covenant of light at the end of the tunnel and a covenant for victory. Hold on to them.

5. Don’t allow the flesh to rule your life. Instead, allow the Holy Spirit. It’s a covenant. Luke 24:49.

6. When God makes a covenant with you, it is your right to claim it through prayer.

Prayers

1. Lord, may my head and life not reject the covenant you have made with me.

2. Father, let the covenants of prosperity and provision become established in my life.

3. Lift up your two hands: “Covenant of life, I receive it! In the name of Jesus, I will not die young. I will live long to see my children’s children.”
