HE FELL INTO THE SAME PIT HIS PREDECESSOR FELL INTO; WHAT A PATHETIC SCENARIO (Friday, 11th September 2026)

Text for Today 1 Sam. 8:1-22 “And said to him “look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make for us a king to judge us like all the nations.” (vs. 5).

When you learn from other people’s mistakes you may laugh along, but if it is yours, its possibly with pain. In the journey of life, God is so faithful that He will always surround us with so many happenings in other people’s lives so we could learn lessons from them. Those who are wise and sensitive will surely make good use of it and bring great value into their lives, while others will just pass by it and later regret their actions. Such was the case of Prophet Samuel, who was an instrument God used to rebuke Eli and his sons, yet he also went ahead and repeated the same mistake all over again.

In 1 Sam. 2:12-17, we read the account of the sons of Eli, of how they sinned against God and the error committed by their father, for not correcting and teaching them the way of the Lord. However, Samuel too fell into the same pit his predecessor fell into, what a pathetic scenario. Samuel was more of a failure when it came to the issue of children than in the time of Eli. The children of Israel obeyed Eli’s voice to the end even though God had stopped talking to him but, they still regarded him as their leader. However, during the period of Samuel, they refused to obey his voice, and they asked for a king, 1 Sam. 8:19. I Cor.10:6 say, “Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.” When you commit the same mistakes people ahead of you committed, it is a sign that you are not growing. Those who learn from others are on the fast lane in the journey of life en route their throne.

You are a Champion!
