DON’T ABANDON YOUR DREAM, NO MATTER WHO LEAVES YOU (Saturday, 17th October 2026)
Text for Today: 2 Tim. 4:1-11 “For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica-Crescens for Galatia, Titus for Dalmatia.” (vs.10).
It does not matter who leaves or abandons you in your journey in life, you must forge ahead and be determined to fulfill your purpose. Very many times, the reason why some people abandon us is because they did not have enough knowledge of what we have set out to do, even after you may have explained it to them over and over again. And there are some who will yield themselves to the devil to use as a stumbling block on your way. From our text for today, Demas gave up midway into the journey that would have taken him into greater fulfillment. He chose to abandon Apostle Paul, and he missed out of the glory that accomplished the finished task.
2 Timothy 4:10 – For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. People give up over their dream for different reasons. Demas was a companion and fellow-labourer of Paul during his first imprisonment at Rome (Philem. 1:24; Col 4:14). Paul called him a fellow laborer. It appears, however, that the love of the world afterwards mastered him, and he deserted the apostle (2 Tim. 4:10). Also, John Mark could not stand the heat of the spiritual battle and abandoned Paul and Barnabas in the battle field (Acts 12:25, 13:13, 15:36-40). Few weeks back, I was telling our church workers during a conference, to beware of worldliness, because it’s a major hindrance to spiritual growth. Beloved, I want to admonish you, this last quarter of 2026, don’t give up midway, no matter what may come your way.
You are a Champion!
Further Study: Acts 13:1-13.
