A GOOD FRIEND LIKE NATHAN SHOULD BE IN YOUR LIFE (Monday, 2nd November 2026)
Text for Today: Prov. 27:1-10 “Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” (vs. 6).
Whoever you surround yourself with and listen to, will determine whether you will triumph over a crisis or die there. May you not fall into the hand of an enemy who pretend to be your friend in Jesus’ name. Not a few people have been brought down the ladder of life untimely because of people they called friends who turned out to be their arch enemies. Beloved, you need to be careful before you call and rely on someone as your friend. You need a friend, not just someone who sees you at church every week, not someone you work in the same office, not someone you sit together to gist, or someone who shares your interest in sport or any recreation but a friend who is unimpressed with your position at work, a friend who checks up on you and can tell if you are misbehaving, a friend who would intervene if you start to neglect your responsibilities.
A friend, who will tell you the truth and will criticize you to bring the best out of you. Nathan was a prophet in the days of David when he was the king in Israel. He was also David’s friend when David wanted to build a temple, he told Nathan and Nathan gave him sound advice. (2 Sam. 7:2-17). When David committed adultery, Nathan was there to rebuke him and when God gave His judgment concerning David and the child, Nathan was there to comfort him. Nathan shared God’s point of view at a time David couldn’t see it himself. And he did it with tact (wisdom). Nathan’s friendship involved a concern for David, his personal life and relationship with God. Be wise!
You are a Champion!
Further Study: 2 Sam. 7:2-17.
