Adversity Hurts, But Can Also Bring Out The Best In Us

Text for Today: 1 Pet. 1:3-12 “That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes.” (vs. 7a).

You cannot control the pain that comes with adversity, but you can control your response and have more courage and strength to face it. Beloved, I want you to know that, every challenge, every defeat, every loss, every heartbreak, contains its own seed for greatness and possibilities, if you will respond to it wisely.

Brave men rejoice in adversity, just as brave soldiers triumph in war. You should never view your challenges as disadvantage, instead, it’s important for you to understand that your experience facing and overcoming adversity is actually one of your biggest advantages in life.

How would your life be different if you looked at the oppositions in your life as opportunities? What if what you see as your biggest barrier to success is really your biggest blessing? From our text for today, Peter said that God is using every adversity that comes your way to refine you as a priceless possession more precious than gold.

What does he mean by “the trials of your faith”? Faith is the Word; the Word is faith. They are synonymous to each other. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Rom. 10:17). No Word, no faith; no faith, no Word.

The trial of your faith, what is being tested, is the Word that’s deposited on the inside of you. When Peter faced the greatest test of his life, Jesus said to him, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not” (Luke 22:31–32).

You will triumph in life.

You are a Champion!
