BE ENCOURAGED BY GOD’S UNSEEN INVOLVEMENT IN YOUR EARTHLY AFFAIRS (Sunday, 21st September 2025)
1 Sam. 9:1-20 “So when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him, “There He is, the man of whom I spoke to you. This one shall reign over my people”. (vs. 17).
Never get confused by the nature of the process you may have to go through in life, and think it’s all over for you. Whatever will happen to a covenant child will surely be, no matter the circumstances he may find himself, either pleasant or ugly. And very many times, God uses unpleasant ways to bring to pass His counsel, to show to men that He is the Almighty. Who does whatsoever He like, in the way He chooses. Every disappointment is a blessing, the saying is nothing but the truth or how would you describe the case of Saul, the son of Kish in our text for today who found his way to the throne while looking for the missing donkey of his father.
When his father’s donkey got lost, why was another child not asked to go and look for it was the question that came to my mind sometimes ago while meditating on this passage. He had to be the one to go and look for the missing donkey because there was a divine set up ahead of him. Another thing I ponder on was that, “What if the donkey never got lost”, beloved, something else would have taken Saul out that will make him to meet with Prophet Samuel that day. This account shows us how beautifully all events are controlled by God. Each person acts in complete freedom but God intervenes to work out everything according to His purpose. Therefore, be encouraged by God’s unseen involvement in your earthly affairs. Last year, on my way back to Nigeria from a trip I made to Italy, a missed flight enabled me to do what I had wanted to do earlier but had no means of doing it. God works in diverse ways.
