CONSISTENCY IN DOING THE RIGHT THING IS THE WAY TO GO (Sat Oct 18)
Text for Today: Matt. 14:22-33 “But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”” (vs. 30).
Those who don’t stay put to a right cause consistently will never enjoy the full package or benefits that may accompany such. Whoever abides with laid down divine instructions and principles will always triumph over whatever the devil and his agents have to offer. Going through the scriptures, we could see several accounts of covenant children who served God diligently and were duly rewarded. The Bible says in Is. 45:19, “I have not called the household of Jacob to serve me in vain.” As we conclude our study today on barriers to serving the Lord, the next barrier is, (iv) BARRIERS OF COMPROMISE: A compromise is a concession to something that is harmful or depreciative. It is difficult to serve the Lord effectively when we compromise. (Romans 12:1).
Another barrier is, (v) FAILURE TO LOOK UNTO JESUS CHRIST: We look unto Jesus by listening when he speaks, and following when he leads. (John 10:27). Taking our eyes off Jesus will inhibit our ability to serve the Lord effectively. As soon as we stray from his direction, we end up doing things different from the things we are called to do (Luke 9:62). Heb 12:2 says, “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” is the only way for us to be effective and successful Christians. In Matthew 14:28-29, when Jesus called him, Peter was able to walk on water like Jesus. He started sinking immediately he took his eyes off of Jesus and focused on the wind and waves. A focus on our Lord Jesus empowers us to overcome all sorts of entanglements of sin and gives us courage over fear.
You are a Champion!
Further Study: Is. 45:14-25.
