HE CAME BACK TO PRAISE GOD IN A SPECIAL WAY (Friday, 7th August 2026)
Text for Today: Daniel 5:1-30 “And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven…., you have not glorified God.” (vs. 23).
Every adult will be made to face the consequences of his actions someday. There is an adage among the Yorubas of South Western part of Nigeria which says, “You have not suffered or gone through stuffs and you claim to be wise, who is your teacher.” Whoever snubs wise counsel and instructions will definitely learn his lessons through some hard and painful ways. I have seen some people whom I counseled to do that which is right but they chose to do otherwise, and I left them alone since they are adult, but after a while they came back crying and asking for forgiveness when they were confronted with the consequences of their wrong actions.
From our text for today, nobody taught King Nebuchadnezzar to give glory to God and eulogize Him when he returned from 7 years misery in the jungle with all kinds of animals. Before that time, he saw no reason why he should give glory to God for everything he was able to accomplish in life, rather he became so arrogant and ascribed all the glory to himself and himself alone. Embarrassment and shame will always accompany whoever fails to give God glory and share out of His glory. A song says, “You are the Lord, that is your name. You will never share your glory with any man. You will never share your glory with anybody. Almighty God, that is your name.” Beloved, do not repeat the same mistake king Nebuchadnezzar made, because God has not changed His mind when it comes to giving Him honour and glory. Be wise!
