HE WAS SURE OF HIS POSITION BEFORE GOD (Monday, 22nd September 2025)
1 Kings 18:16-39 “Then Elijah said to the people, I alone am left a prophet of the Lord; but Baal prophets are four hundred and fifty.” (vs. 22).
Those who are conscious of God’s presence wherever they go in life never end up as failure, rather they always come out victorious. As a covenant child, a clear understanding that you are not alone wherever you go, is of great importance to the kind of victory you will ever get in life. The consciousness of divine backing is a very strong factor that keeps us fighting and moving ahead. Knowing that, we can’t lose the battle while He is with us. That was the understanding Prophet Elijah had, that made him to silence all the prophets of Baal on Mount Camel despite outnumbering him. He was not intimidated by the over four hundred prophets of Baal. He was not scared of what may be the outcome if nothing happens that day.
He was walking in the will of God and was sure of divine backing. Many of us Christians walking in the will of God, are intensely susceptible to the approval and disapproval of our fellow men and women. We go on unswervingly in the will of God, until a fellow Christian disapproves us. Their words cut deep into our hearts and we falter; and wonder and hesitate. But Elijah did not falter; he had found the secret of disregarding the thoughts of men and looking only to God. What was his secret? He was sure of his position before God. He knew he was in the place where God wanted him to be, and he planted his feet firmly on the truth. He was also sure of his position before men just like when Paul said in Rom. 8:31, “If God be for us who can be against us.” He knew he was on the winning side and nothing else.
