IT’S MORE IMPORTANT TO LOOK AHEAD THAN TO LOOK BACK (Friday, 1st May 2026)
Text for Today: 2 Sam. 12:13-25 “So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped.” (vs. 20).
Glory be to God for the privilege of being counted among the living on earth today, the first day in the month of May. There comes a time when you have to stop remembering your mistakes and move on. What’s done is done, what’s gone is gone. One of life’s lessons is to keep moving forward, regardless of what happens to you in life. It’s okay to look back at times, so as to see how far you have come, but still keep moving. Life is like a bicycle; to keep your balance, you must keep moving. However, you must know that, whichever decision you make, life goes on. Whether you choose to move on and take a chance in the unknown, or you stay behind, locked in the past, thinking of what could have been.
Beloved, yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose. You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one. Someone asked me some time ago that, “Why let go of yesterday?” I simply told her, “Yesterday already let go of you, that’s why you are in today.” Don’t carry your mistakes around with you. Instead, place them under your feet and use them as stepping stones. From our text for today, after David was told that the baby that came out of the unholy relationship he had with Beersheba was dead, he rose up, washed his face, had his meals, and moved on with his life. Some great things took place in his life thereafter. When life is sweet, say thank you, Lord, and celebrate, and when life is bitter, say thank you, Lord, grow through it and move on. Our eyes are in front because it’s more important to look ahead than to look back. HAPPY NEW MONTH!
You are a Champion!
