THE CHALLENGING EXPERIENCE OF THE PAST HELPED HIM (Monday, 29th September 2025)

Text for Today: 1 Sam. 17:20-37 “Your servant has killed both lion and bear, and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them.” (vs. 36).

The journey of life may not be a bed of roses all the time, if it’s your desire to live a life of exploits. Whatever you may be going through right now is part of the ways God is using to prepare you for the future. There’s nothing a child of God goes through in life that is ever a waste, because he will get to some point in the future that the experiences of the past will be a strong reference for him to forge ahead. Quick and sudden victories come only after we have wrestled for some time with smaller and lesser issues. How long did it take David to defeat the giant called Goliath? It was all over in a moment.

When Saul told David, he would not be able to defeat the giant, David responded by telling Saul all about his Curriculum Vitae, as regards how God helped him to defeat the lion and the bear when they came after his father’s sheep. David knew what it was to experience victory in the day-to-day issues of life before taking on the giant. Over the years, David had built up his capacity in dealing with problem that came to him in his role as a shepherd boy, and so, when it came to facing the greater challenges of Goliath, he was ready for a quick and sudden triumph. We must realize that just like David, we must develop our victory muscles with the day-to-day problems and challenges of life, so that when we are faced with a giant problem the victory will be cheap and quick. The little trial you run away from today will go ahead and wait for you in the future, this time around in a deadlier way. Be wise!

 You are a Champion!
