THERE’S NO WISDOM IN GOING AHEAD WITH WHAT WILL NOT WORK (Saturday, 14th March 2026)
Text for Today: Jonah 3:1-10 “Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.” (vs. 10).
Whoever keeps going the wrong way and doing the wrong thing despite several warnings, will soon land in a situation he won’t be able to redeem himself. Learning to identify the source of a burden and addressing it or letting it go is a great virtue that makes life more fulfilling. Many people engage in what is not yielding any good result, and yet still fail to do anything about it, but keep on complaining and lamenting. There are some negative traits in our lives that we thought are right and will work which eventually landed us in trouble, you need not to kill yourself by using strong head as they say, but simply let it go and embrace something more positively oriented.
You must let go of past grievances, past pains, malice, hatred, unforgiveness, backbiting and many other negative traits that took you nowhere in the past. However, letting go doesn’t mean the same people or some other ones will not cross your path again, you are the one that must make up your mind to move ahead with your life no matter what men may do to you. Letting go of what didn’t work will pave way for what will work and cause you to break new ground. From our text for today, when the king and the whole people of Nineveh let go of their evil ways and paths which did not work, things got better for them, and God changed His mind about punishing them. Do not waste your time and your life holding on to what will end in destruction. The beauty of life is in fulfilling your mandate on earth, not in destroying your destiny.
