THOSE WHO FOCUS ONLY ON THEMSELVES ALONE DON’T GO FAR IN LIFE (Monday, 2nd February 2026)
Test for Today: Gen. 40:1-15 “So he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in the custody of his lord’s house, saying “Why do you look so sad today.” (vs. 7).
When you deliver and meet the needs of others, you should be rest assured that your needs will met be somehow in life. Those who focus only on themselves and ignoring people around them don’t go far in life. Great leaders emerge in life by attending to the needs of people around them within their capacity. At times they even go to the extreme to get things done for others. Such men fulfill destiny and also live on in the minds of people even after their death. From our text for today, Joseph decided to put his personal needs aside, and applied himself completely to the task that was entrusted to him. He did this job as he had done every other job before, with total dedication, giving it his fullest attention.
One morning Joseph walked in to the cell of two famous prisoners, the royal baker and the royal butler, and noticed that they were not themselves. Something was bothering them. Now, not looking well in an Egyptian prison is not an unusual thing – only a person with a heightened sensitivity for the feelings of others would be aware that there was something more than the usual misery of being in jail bothering these two prisoners. Joseph said, “Why do you have a sad face today?” To which they responded by relating their dreams, and Joseph explained the dreams to them. As a result, Joseph was later recommended to Pharaoh as an interpreter of dreams. It was this that eventually led to his becoming second to the king of Egypt. All of this was only possible because he meets the needs of others. Be wise!
You are a Champion!
