DISAPPOINTMENT IS SO COMMON TO HUMANITY, DON’T LET IT STOP YOU – Monday, 18th August 2025

Text for Today: 1 Sam. 1:8-20 “So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son..” (vs. 20).

Until God is through with you, no man can close your chapter in life. Whenever men conclude over your matter and write you off, you must never let it get to you; rather, remain focused on your assignment and expect the best from your creator. Such was the position of Hannah, who was provoked and looked down upon by her rival because of the delay she suffered. The fact that you are disappointed today does not mean your desires shall not be met tomorrow. Disappointment comes in all sizes, doesn’t it? Any time our hopes are not realized or our expectations or desires are not fulfilled, we feel disappointed.

Disappointment can be a passing emotion over a temporary loss, or it may strike powerfully when something permanently changes our lives. A major disappointment can remain within us all the time, shadowing our reactions to everything. We all experience disappointment for different reasons. In itself, feeling disappointed is not a sin. How we handle it is the crucial issue. Disappointment is so common to humanity that it was difficult to choose which biblical characters to best illustrate it. Think of the years of disappointment experienced by Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, Hannah, and Elizabeth. Month after month, year after year, they saw the evidence of their childlessness, yet they believed God and something positive took place. They came out victorious, and their generation rejoiced with them. I see you also coming out of that disappointment in the name of Jesus.

You are a Champion!

Further Study: Gen. 30:1-24.
