DON’T ONLY SEEK FOR WHAT WILL SATISFY YOUR SELFISH DESIRE ALONE (Saturday, 27th September 2025)

Text for Today: 1 Sam. 2:12-26 “Moreover his mother used to make him a little robe, and bring it to him year by year when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.” (vs. 19).

Focusing on yourself alone in the place of prayer leaves you abandoned in the realm of the spirit. Whatever a man is asking and craving for from God, that will not ultimately be to His glory may end as efforts in futility. Many children of God are only concerned with what will satisfy their selfish desire alone without thinking of how it will make them to serve God better. If God will not have access to whatever you are asking Him to give you, it is a sign that you have embarked on a mission with no end in sight. It’s always the joy of God when people begin to glorify Him because of you. That was what happened through Hannah, her generation glorified God because Prophet Samuel came through her.

What Hannah received from the Lord, she gladly reinvested into God’s service. And it is significant to know that Hannah’s prayer for a child was not answered until she made a promise of complete surrender of the son she was given to the service and work of God. Many of our prayers remain unanswered for a similar reason. James reminded us that when we ask and do not receive, it could as well be because of the selfish reasons that underline our prayers (James 4:3). But when we seek God for things that in turn we are willing to give back to Him then prayer takes on a new note of excitement and praise. We may very well make new discovery in prayer through adopting this principle. Ask God for things, but make sure He has access to the thing given. Reinvest everything into his service and a new life of answered prayer will open up before you.

 You are a Champion!
