DON’T ALLOW ANYTHING TO HINDER YOU FROM KINGDOM SERVICE (Thursday, 16th October 2025)

Text for Today: Heb. 12:1-10 “..let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” (vs. 1b).

It is an act of wisdom to stand against whatever may hinder you from doing what will be of great value to you in life. There are barriers that stand on our way, that we must avoid when it comes to kingdom service. Barrier is anything in our lives or environment that hinders, prevent us or slows us down from being effective followers of Christ, and/or our ability to access His throne. From our text for today, we are told that there are things that may hinder us as we run the race for the Lord’s Kingdom. We shall begin to take a look as some of such hindrances in today’s study.

In Hebrew 12:1-2, we are called to run, the race that is set before us. We are called to live like those running a marathon. This explains the urgency of the race. We cannot postpone it nor do it sluggishly. According to the passage, we must lay aside everything that hinders or throw off every weight that prevents or slows us down, or any sin that may easily entangle, and run with perseverance while fixing our eyes on Jesus Christ. Some are not serving as they should because of the weights that hinders, others are not serving because of the sin that entangles. Yet others are not serving as they should because they took off their eyes from Jesus and got misguided, and out of focus while others lost their endurance and dropped out entirely. (i) SERVING IN HUMAN STRENGTH:  Walking in human strength results in fatigue, discouragement and eventual fall from serving the Lord. The Power for service comes from the Lord and the Lord alone.

You are a Champion!

Further Study: Romans 12:9-18.
