TURNAROUND AND THE PREREQUISITE ATTRIBUTES (Sunday, 2nd November 2025)
Text for Today: Job 1:1-10 “Have you consider My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” (vs. 8).
Every act of God in your life is dependent on your ability to display some worthy attributes. You can’t be living a careless and irresponsible life and expect the grace of God to abound in your life, (Rom. 6:1-2). Let us look at some examples of men who experienced turnaround with the prerequisite qualifications for it: (i) Job: Job was a man who experienced turnaround after a series of trials and difficulties. (Job 42:10). Attributes – He was a leader among many, “The Lord said, “There is none like him on the earth, one who fears God and shuns evil,” Job 1:8. He was a man of excellent character. Not only was Job a good role model for husbands and fathers. He was sensitive to the needs of the oppressed and poor, Job 29:12-17 & 31:13-22. Job was morally pure, guarding carefully his eyes and emotions, Job 31:1-12. This type of life must be reproduced in the lives of men and women who needed turnaround.
(ii) Joseph: Although, he was the 11th son, he emerged as the firstborn from among all the brethren, Genesis 48:5, 1 Chronicles 5:1-2. Attributes – Joseph was very righteous and spiritual (Ezekiel 47:13, even as a child. His brothers, on the other hand, were evil, Genesis 37:1-11. He overcame discouragement: Joseph had to overcome a bad childhood and home life, rejection and cruelty of the brethren, exile, slavery, loneliness, homesickness, sexual temptations, false accusations, imprisonment, a ruined reputation, and many other injustices. Despite all, he remained humble until his change came.
