THERE’S GREAT BLESSING IN OBEDIENCE (Friday, 16th January 2026)
Text for Today: Mark 10:46-52 “And Jesus said to him, “Go your way, your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight.” (vs. 52).
Many people have remained on the same spot for years not because God is not ready and able to answer their prayers, but it’s because they have failed to follow divine instructions given to them. Whoever ignores divine and prophetic instruction is simply saying he is bigger than God himself. From our text for today, a simple obedience to the instruction given by Jesus Christ, was what paved way for the long-awaited miracle in the life of Bartimaeus. If Bartimaeus had ignored what Jesus said, he would have died as a blind man. After blind Bartimaeus told Jesus what he wanted, Jesus simply told him, “GO YOUR WAY.”
Someone else could have queried Jesus, why should I go my way when I just told you I want my eyes opened, but Bartimaeus complied with the instruction, and as he turned to go his way, his eyes were opened. I call that, “Blessing of obedience.” Is. 1:19 says, “If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land.” Whoever queries the approaches or ways of God will lose out completely when the heavens are opened. As we continue in the journey of this New Year, I admonish us to have great expectation and also obey divine instructions. If there is one thing that God is looking out for to release the supernatural, it is our desire and willingness to follow Him all through His ways. Also, those who were in charge of wine at the marriage in Cana of Galilee followed all that Jesus instructed, though it looked foolish at a point, and the miracle took place in their hands.
