What is a Hindrance?

=> A hindrance is a person, a thing, or a circumstance that acts as an obstacle or impediment to a man who is set to achieve his goals.

=> As good as supernatural power is, hindrances can stop you from receiving and enjoying the power.

=> In 1 Thessalonians 2:18, Apostle Paul wrote a letter to the Thessalonians and informed them of his desire, and that of some other people, to come to them again and again, but Satan hindered them. Hindrance is real, particularly when someone is out to get something good done.

Hindrances to Supernatural Power

1. Grieving the Holy Spirit.

=> Ephesians 4:30.

=> The Holy Spirit is the giver and custodian of supernatural power, so grieving Him can serve as a hindrance to receiving supernatural power. Luke 24:49; Acts 2:1-4; Acts 1:8.

=> To make the Holy Spirit your companion, abide by the word of God. Don’t joke with the things of God.

2. Pride and self-exaltation.

=> The Holy Spirit will only help a man who sees himself as being helpless before Him.

=> A proud man can never enjoy supernatural power. 1 Peter 5:5.

=> Pride makes a man take the place of God, and this leads to self-exaltation.

3. Self-centeredness, self-confidence, self-sufficiency, and self-desire.

=> Our confidence and sufficiency must be in God, not in “self.” Philippians 4:13.

=> That was the mistake made by King Nebuchadnezzar, when he boasted of his own might and failed to acknowledge the backing of God Almighty.

=> Let your dependency and reliance be on God.

4. Love for the world.

=> One who loves the lifestyle of the world can never be a recipient of supernatural power. 1 John 2:15.

5. Wrong company.

=> The people you keep company with can serve as hindrances to receiving and enjoying supernatural power, if they don’t value supernatural power.

=> Proverbs 13:20.

Things to note

1. Everyone alive has dreams to fulfill. However, there could be hindrances.

2. It has been established that we can’t live our lives in the absence of God’s power if we want to fulfill our purpose and mandate on earth.

3. The devil and his agents will rise to resist anything under the covenant promises of God that will benefit you and add value to your life.

4. Supernatural power is on the covenant promise list of God for us. Luke 24:49.

5. It is an established truth that everybody needs a power backup in life. However, as children of God, we need the supernatural power of God, and we must not compromise it

6. No power or force is superior to the power of God.

Prayers

1. Whatever may hinder me from receiving and enjoying supernatural power, oh Lord, take it away from me today, in Jesus name.
