HE COULDN’T CURTAIL HIS WEAKNESS TILL HE LOST HIS LIFE (Saturday, 12th September 2026)
Text for Today: Judge 16:1-21 “I will go out as before, at other times, and shake myself free!” but he did not know that the LORD had departed from him. (vs. 20b).
There are decisions we make in life that come rather too late to salvage the situation at hand because we failed to take the right step when it mattered most. Such was the case of Samson, who decided to rise up and shake himself off the hook of the Philistines who came to arrest him, but it was too late for him. That is why like it is often said, “It is better to make haste while the sun shines.” When you ignore divine alarms that keep blowing around you, warning you to desist from a particular way of life, what will follow thereafter will be disastrous which you will not be able to manage.
Samson fell due to his carelessness and stubbornness, not because of any witch or wizard, because his parents warned him against going into any relationship with strange women, but he refused to listen to them. He knew his weakness, yet he could not control it. He allowed the enemy to use his weakness as a prey to trap him. Many destinies have been shattered through the carelessness of the people involved. The devil will always bring before you temptation in the area of your weakness. Esau was supposed to obtain the inheritance of the first-born son but lost out through food. He could not discipline his mouth and stomach. The devil was able to attack Job through his weakness which is fear. Amnon, David’s son, was destroyed through the relationship he kept. King Nebuchadnezzar was also punished because of his weakness. Whatever your weakness is, you must confront it before it destroys you.
