EVERY MAN ON EARTH WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ACTIONS TAKEN (Wednesday, 24th June 2026)
Text for Today: Jeremiah 38:1-13 “Then the king commanded Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian saying, take thirty men with you, and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he dies.” (vs. 10).
A leader is the one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way. The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind but not weak, be bold but not a bully; be thoughtful but not lazy; be humble but not timid; be proud but not arrogant; have humour but not folly. Every man on earth will be held responsible for actions taken by him. Only a fool will point to another man as being responsible when he is confronted with consequences of his actions. A strong leader accepts blame and gives credit; while a weak leader gives blame and accepts the credit. It is a rare privilege to be in a position of authority in life.
However, it is a responsibility, to successfully manage your subjects very well so as not to defeat the purpose why God put you there. From our text for today, King Zedekiah of Judah was a weak leader. When princes suggested that Jeremiah was guilty and so should be punished; he quickly agreed and gave an order without finding out what truly happened. But surprisingly, when Ebed-Melech, a black man heard of the injustice, and pointed it out to him, he agreed again immediately! He didn’t seem to have a mind of his own. Supposing another group came and said Jeremiah should be roasted alive, he may have agreed! And he was the king, whose word was law… what a pity! Any position of authority you find yourself in life, always manage it with wisdom and the fear of the Lord, because you will give account someday.
You are a Champion!
Further Study: Luke 23:1-25.
