EXAMINE THE STAKE OF YOUR FRIENDS IN YOUR LIFE (Saturday, 19th September 2026)
Text for Today: Jonah 1:1-16 “So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging.” (vs. 15).
Let me start today by praying for you that, may you not embark on a journey with someone who is destined for destruction as this year goes to an end in the name of Jesus. May God separate you form any Jonah who may bring you misfortune wherever you go to in Jesus name. From our text for today, Jonah was an excess, unnecessary luggage in the life of the sailor and the traders in the ship. The person you travel with or relate with in life will determine what will befall you. The people in the ship going to Tarshish, unknowingly were accompanied by someone God is angry with and they suffered for it badly, and they almost lost their lives, but for mercy that prevailed.
Therefore, before you go into any relationship with anybody, you must seek the face of God to know whether such relationship will profit or bring you down. Many have gone into marital relationship that brought retrogression into their lives. I have seen some people who were committed to God before they got married, but they became cold and complacent to kingdom service after. Many are into business venture with people who have the curse of God upon their lives and since you are in a relationship with such people you will share out of their predicaments. Until the people in the boat threw out Jonah there was no peace in their lives. Friendship is not by force but by choice, as we come closer to the end of the third quarter of this year, take time to do a sincere assessment of those you relate with closely, to determine their stake in your life.
