GENUINE REPENTANCE BEGINS WITH THE ACCEPTANCE OF YOUR MISTAKES – Tuesday, 12th August 2025
Text for Today: Ps. 51:1-19 “For I acknowledge my transgression and my sin is always before me.” (vs. 3).
Those who fail to accept their errors further go into more terrible ones, that may one day end their lives. Ability and readiness to admit and accept your mistakes is one of the ways to remain a candidate of God’s mercy. I see many people who fail to do this, and they continue to live lives of struggle and frustration. The story of King David’s life is full of highs and lows. His beautiful and sincere songs of praise for God are recorded in the Psalms. But his adultery with Bathsheba and murder of her husband Uriah are also recorded for all to see in the Bible, that you can’t do evil and go unnoticed. Yet somehow his terrible sins are eclipsed by his wholehearted devotion to God. His deep repentance of his sins was part of the reason God could say that David was a man after His own heart (Acts 13:22).
He shares the story of his most famous repentance in Psalm 51. When God calls us into a relationship with Him, there are obstacles that stand in the way of our having a good relationship with the perfect, Holy Creator, God. One of those obstacles is our sins. The Bible shows that repentance is a step in the process of removing that obstacle. It does not matter how terrible you lived your life in the past; what God expects from you is true repentance, and He will restore you back and you move ahead from there into destiny. Let me make it clear that no man can play God by faking repentance; such a person is simply digging his own grave. Go ahead and repent of your sins and start a new life with Jesus. See you at the top.
