HE DIDN’T ASK FOR ANYTHING ELSE FROM JESUS BUT MERCY (Sunday, 8th March 2026)
Text for Today: Mark 10:46–52 “…he began to cry out and say, Jesus! Son of David have mercy on me!” (vs. 47b).
The mercy of God fuels compassion and it also brings great comfort, providing promising glints of light in a darkened world. Its kindness forward forgiveness, and empathy. Mercy chooses not to be offended, and compassionately sees a hurting heart behind hurtful words. God’s mercy is reflected in the cross of Christ, a direct reflection of His love for us. Mercy is an extension of an expression of love, “an act of kindness, compassion, or favor.” Mercy is a characteristic of the One True God. All of these forms the basis why Jesus chose to attend to blind Bartimaeus despite the fact that many people asked him to keep quiet.
There is no doubt that blind Bartimaeus must have tried several things for him to regain his sight but all to no avail. People must have given him all manner of counsel yet there was no solution. Then he got to a point in his life where he concluded that, human’s effort is not the solution to his reproach but the mercy of God. And glory be to God, because when the opportunity came eventually, he resisted all attempts made by people around him to stop him from experiencing a change. He didn’t ask for anything else from Jesus but MERCY. For you to get what your heart desires and become a man/woman of your dream, where men and women will rise to celebrate you, you need the mercy of God. Beloved, I want you to know that, without God’s mercy, your ability and labour takes you nowhere. When God looks down on you with mercy, whoever opposes at that point will do so in futility.
You are a Champion!
Further Study: John 8:1-12.
