HE GOT NOTHING BECAUSE HE NEVER ASKED (Saturday, 27th June 2026)
Text for Today: Luke 15:11-31 “Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.”
If you don’t go after what you want, you will never have it. If you don’t ask and pursue it, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward; you are always in the same place. It’s never overreacting to ask for what you want and need. Ask for what you want in life, believe you deserve it, and then allow life to give it to you. There are some people around us who will know that you need something, yet they will be looking at you because you didn’t ask for it. They could be right to some extent, “Ask, and it shall be given,” is what the Bible says. Such was the case of the elder brother of the prodigal son, who served his father meritoriously all through the years, yet he never got any significant reward apart from feeding and shelter, because he never asked for anything from his father.
The fact that you fail to ask for what you want in life, does not mean others who ask will not get what they asked for, and even take out of your portion you refuse to claim. The older brother came back home one day, only to find his father celebrating the return of his younger brother who earlier collected all his inheritance and squandered all. When he came closer and saw what was going on, he became angry, and refused to go in. Humanly speaking, anyone else could have reacted the same way, thinking how on earth could his father, for whom he has been working relentlessly even till that point in time, just decide to do something like that in favour of such a ‘stupid son’ of his. He was actually “stupid one” for not asking for anything over the years.
