THE ASSOCIATION THEY KEPT BROUGHT TROUBLE INTO THEIR LIVES (Saturday, 7th November 2026)
Text for Today: 1 Chron. 19:1-19: “And when the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and became his servants so the Syrians were not willing to help the people of Ammon anymore.” (vs. 19).
No man can ever rise above the level and worth of the kind of people he associates with in life. If your association is not changing you positively, it’s better to walk out of it to a new one. Beloved, I want you to know that, happenings and results that accompany our lives has a strong link with the kind of people we identify with in life. Whatever plague that is upon those you surround yourself with will one day find his way into your life if you are not careful. From our study for today, when the Syrians helped the children of Ammon blindly by supporting them in fighting the Israelites they paid for it dearly. The association they kept brought trouble into their lives.
The King of the people of Ammon died and his son became king, now David sent emissary to comfort the new king because his father who died had helped David before. However, the king misinterpreted David’s good intention; his subordinates deceived him that David had sent people to spy his land, therefore the king of the children of Ammon dealt ruthlessly with David’s servants. When David heard, he gathered up his men for battle, then it dawned on the king of the children of Ammon that he had committed a great mistake towards David and instead of apologizing he went to hire another country to fight with him against the Israelites but they were defeated. That was why the Syrians became the slave of the Israelites; because they joined forces with the enemy of God. Many people are in bondage right now because they got involved in bad company.
