THE MOST DANGEROUS SPIRITUAL PARASITE IS PRIDE (Friday, 5th December 2025)
Text for Today: Luke 18:9-14 ´The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men-extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this lax collector.” (vs. 11).
Every child of God must be ready to do away with whatever may make God to reject you in life. Pride is a monster God hates to see in our lives. A spirit of pride and self-righteousness can make our sacrifices and thanksgiving unacceptable before God. An attitude of pride can turn a sacrificial offering to an act which is sinful. From our text today, the Pharisee gave thanks to God that he was not like the tax collector who humbly acknowledged his sins and appreciated God who had mercy upon him by sparing his life. What the Pharisee did was thanksgiving that was really no thanks at all. Pride kills thanksgiving but humility is the soil out of which thanksgiving naturally grows and produces good harvest.
A proud man is never really thankful and will never get as much as he desires. The most dangerous spiritual parasite is pride. Many have been weakened by it and many will still fall prey if they are not careful. You have to deal with the spirit of pride for your thanksgiving to be accepted by God. The Pharisee in our text for today had this holier than thou attitude, that was why he thought that he was better than the tax collector. No one is righteous, it is the righteousness of Jesus that makes us qualify to stand in His presence and pray. We must all remember this at all times so as to remain humble before God. Stop the spirit of pride today before it stops your destiny ultimately. I pray for you today that, every plot of the devil to stop you through pride shall fail in the name of Jesus.
You are a champion!
Further Study: Amos 4:1-6.
