Prayer Should Always Be Our First Response To Every Situation
Text for Today: Acts 12:1-16 “Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.” (vs. 5).
A day without prayer is a day without blessing, and a life without prayer is a life without power. Every great movement of God can be traced to a kneeling figure.
There is nothing anyone can do to stop the devil and his agents from roaring and raging around but, there is a lot we can do as covenant children to keep them where they belong through the power of prayer. Before you came into this world the devil has been wrecking havoc, and when you will be no more if Jesus tarries, he will surely continue with his evil deeds.
But you can live your life as a covenant child, triumphing over him without nursing any injury. 2 Cor. 10:4 says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not canal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”
The state of this world will only be found pleasurable and exciting by believers who are able to take up challenges of life using the weapon of warfare prayers. God has given us prayer as a weapon to silence and crush all forms of opposition and adversaries on our path to the throne.
These adversaries are real and never rest. They go here and there seeking whom to devour.
From our text for today, Peter was not killed as James was, because the church rose up and engaged in fervent prayers. If the church had kept quiet as they did when James was arrested, the enemies of the church could have had their way.
Fervent prayers can cause the heavens to open, it can open gates of iron and prisons, and it can destroy the works of the enemy and can also give you day to day victory in life.
