HE DARED TO GO BEYOND HIMSELF AND GOT GOD’S BACKING (Tuesday, 17th February 2026)
Text for Today: 1 Sam. 17:26-51 “Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” (vs. 36).
Those who don’t break new grounds in life become irrelevant with time. Doing something new and something extra is the hallmark of an extra ordinary life. And as covenant children of God, this is what we are created for. Just as a weary rock climber must at times reach above himself to gain a difficult resting ledge, you too must dare to go beyond yourself to find this ever-present safety. There is no danger in true self-ascent. The only real danger lies within remaining where you are. Think about it. If you could realize and enter into that true quality of life where there is an entirely new you every moment, it would mean that with every single heartbeat you would be free from any possible heartache that might have preceded it.
From our text for today, David made up his mind to face a battle he had never faced before, and do something he had never done before. David’s CV had victory over animal, but he dared to go beyond himself when he decided to confront Goliath, who was far bigger than him in height and all other factors. Even King Saul told David emphatically that it would be suicidal for him to go and face Goliath, but the young man still stood his ground. David dare to go beyond himself and got God’s backing. Beloved, anytime you exercise your faith and seek to do the impossible, God will surely be there for you and grant you victory. As you set out in your endeavor this year, be fully prepared to break new grounds and do the impossible. Don’t limit yourself to last year’s accomplishments and victories.
