DON’T LET THE GOOD PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE WALK AWAY (Tuesday, 15th September 2026)
Text for Today: Gen. 30:25-41 “And Laban said to him, “please stay, if I have found favour in your eyes, for I have learned by experience that the Lord has blessed me for your sake.” (vs. 27).
Please stay with me and don’t leave if I have found favour with you was what Laban told Jacob when he made his intention of leaving know to him. According to his words, Laban has learnt by experience that the Lord has blessed him tremendously because of the covenant upon Jacob. He only came to this conclusion after a careful stock taking of where his business was before Jacob came and the transformation that happened after he came. Laban was sincere by confessing that, the breakthrough that happened to his business was because of Jacob that came into his life. There are some people who come into your life at a point and everything shall begin to go wrong and nosedive at the same time, such people are the likes of Jonah.
When he entered the ship going to Tarshish, instead of Nineveh that God sent him to, the people he met in there lost their properties and almost lost their lives. However, Jacob and Laban’s case were not like that in our text for today. Though Laban was not fair at all to Jacob when it comes to reward system for all his years of labour, you must also be sensitive to happenings in your life as soon as some people come around. If you are not, you may eventually find yourself on the ground before you wake up during which it may be too late. Look around and quickly identify people like Lot and part ways with them, and on the other side, you must be very good to people like Jacob so that they don’t walk out of your life like he did to Laban.
