ABSENCE OF COURAGE IS FEAR; BE COURAGEOUS (Wednesday, 9th September 2026)
Text for Today: Jos. 1:1-9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (vs. 9).
When Moses died, Israel lost a great leader. Now, it was time for Joshua to take the baton. However, the Israelites were afraid. They didn’t know whether Joshua would have the same authority and leadership like what they saw in Moses. During this time, Joshua needed encouragement. The people were afraid and they also need an assurance from God. In Joshua 1, you will see the command, “Be strong and of good courage” had been repeated three times, signifying finality. The sixth covenant key to overcoming fear is, BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE. It is worth noting that God actually commanded Joshua to be STRONG and of GOOD COURAGE.
It isn’t a request from God or some mere suggestions but it is a command. Instead of being afraid, God encouraged these people to be strong and be courageous. But what does this mean? It means that they should not stay weak. They must be strong in the LORD. They must obtain their strength from the Supreme Eternal God. Being strong isn’t enough but they must also be courageous. Being courageous means that they should have the confidence to do what God wants them to do. Though, things may not seem to go your way, being courageous means that you are able to move forward as you trust God. God specifically describes the type of courage that they should have. It should be a GOOD courage. By being strong and courageous, YOU CAN DEFINITELY OVERCOME FEAR.
You are a Champion!
