LEARN TO RESTRAIN YOURSELF, NO MATTER WHAT MEN MAY DO TO YOU (Thursday, 16th April 2026)

Text for Today: Prov. 19:1-12 “The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a transgression.” (vs.11).

Every good thing you’re not willing to fight for in life can never be yours. Self-control is one of the traits of a mature person; it applies to control of language, physical treatment of others, and the appetites of the body. Whatever will bring great dividends to you in life will place a great responsibility on you. Like I often say to our church members, whoever runs away from responsibilities should forget about the blessings that accompany it.

As clearly stated in my previous teachings for some days now, self-control is a non-negotiable virtue a potential champion and great achiever must possess. Without it, a man may plunder the opportunity that is designed to take him to the throne. The third wonder of self-control we are discussing today is that, PEOPLE WITH SELF-CONTROL RESTRAIN THEIR REACTIONS. How much can you take before you lose your cool? “If you are sensible, you will control your temper. When someone wrongs you, it is a great virtue to ignore it.” Our text for today says, “The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And, his glory is to overlook a transgression,” it means keeping your cool even when men provoke you attracts glory into your life. Don’t allow anyone to stop you through their negative attitude towards you. Beloved, by the time you get stuck in life, those who pushed you into it will be nowhere to be found for you to point accusing fingers at them. You must learn to restrain yourself, no matter what men may do to you, don’t react negatively when you have not dissected what really happened well.

You are a Champion!

Further Study: 1 Sam. 25:1-35.

Covenant Prayers

  1. Father, I am grateful for all your wonderful works in my life.
  2. I receive grace to always restrain my reactions.
  3. Every plot of the devil to stop me through character flaw will fail
  4. Lord, bless and increase the work of my hands as I go out today.
