DON’T PRAY OUTSIDE THE WILL OF GOD – Thursday, 21st August 2025
Text for Today: 1 John 5:14-17 “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” (vs. 14).
Those who comply with divine instructions abide under the shadow of the Almighty all the days of their lives. When you follow laid-down rules and regulations, you will surely enjoy the attendant benefits. If there is anything God will not compromise when it comes to prayer, it is asking according to His will and purpose for your life. Some people think prayer is a matter of us trying to convince God to do something He does not want to do. Where did we ever get that idea? Not from the Bible. Jesus taught us to get in line with God’s purposes and to pray: Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, Matthew 6:9-10. God is not unjust.
Whenever you pray outside the will of God, you are simply wasting your time. Then the question is, “How do I pray outside His will.” Anytime you are asking God for something that will not glorify Him, or praying over a thing just to satisfy flesh, it is definitely outside His will. In Luke 22:42, when Jesus was faced with having to drink the cup of our iniquity on the cross and be alienated from God because of our sins, He prayed, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done.” Jesus surrendered to the will of God, though the flesh did not want to, but the will of God definitely prevailed that day. Always seek Him according to His will, and you will see how good God is, since no one put his trust in him and ever goes back empty-handed.
