THERE’S A FORCE BEHIND EVERYTHING THAT IS WORKING (Friday, 15th May 2026)
Text for Today: Mark 9:14-29: “So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting”. (vs. 29).
Whatever you see that is working anywhere in life, there are some factors and principles that make it possible. Beloved, you must know that nothing works on its own; things are made to happen. The account we read from our text for today, was as a result of the prayer and fasting life of Jesus. A man brought his son to the disciples to cast out the dumb spirit that was tormenting him but they couldn’t until Jesus came around in Mark 9:25 and the boy was delivered immediately. Jesus commanded the deaf and dumb spirit inside the boy to come out of him, and it was so, and the disciples became confused because they had tried all they could earlier but nothing happened.
The disciples later asked him why they couldn’t cast the devil out and he gave them the answer that unless through fasting and prayer such cannot come out. He categorically told them to step up their game when it comes to fasting and prayer. It means they were not doing it enough. You can’t become an exploit doer in the kingdom if you are not committed to a lifestyle of fasting and prayer. If you read from vs. 2, the Bible recorded that Jesus went to the mountain to pray and while he was there he was transfigured. Note here, prayer was the tool, while transfiguration was the result. You might not know the effect of the prayers you’ve prayed until you see the outcome. Never underrate the power of fasting and prayer if you want signs and wonders to follow you.
