DON’T LABOUR ON WHAT WILL BRING A CURSE RATHER THAN BLESSING (Sunday, 25th January 2026)
Text for Today: 2 Kings 5:20-27 “….but as the Lord lives; I will run after him and take something from him”. (vs. 20b).
Those who wait on God to make things happen in their lives will always enjoy it for as long as they live. It does not matter how long a man tries to deceive others and hide his true identity, one day his true character will be exposed when he least expects. And when that time comes, it brings along public shame and reproach that it will take years to cover up if possible at all. Beloved, God is more interested in your character and the reasons why you do whatever you do in life per time. We serve a God who pays attention to our motives for doing things. It is an act of foolishness for a man to labour on something that will eventually bring a curse rather than blessing. Such was the case of Bro.
Gehazi, from our text for today, who because of his greed brought eternal curse and damnation upon himself and his lineage. Gehazi rated his master “Elisha” as a foolish man of God who want to die in poverty when opportunities abound for him to become wealthy, thus he decided to cut corners. Many people have been cut into pieces as well because they cut corners in their endeavors. When you are ripe and matured for your blessing you will definitely get it. Elisha served Elijah and he got a double portion of Elijah’s anointing before he was taken away. Gehazi also served Elisha, however instead of getting a double portion of Elisha’s anointing he got double portion of Namaan’s leprosy. Be watchful of how you get whatever you want in life so you don’t cut your life short.
