ALWAYS LOOK UP UNTO GOD AND NOT UNTO MAN (Monday, 6th July 2026)
Text for Today: Ps. 121:1-8 “My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.” (vs. 2).
Many people do have great expectations in life, but only a few have their expectations meet. And the reason is not far-fetched, they looked to the wrong source. There is no way you will have your expectations met from sources that lack the capacity to make it happen. The source of your expectations determines their greatness. Your expectations will only be as great as the source it is coming from. Expectations that you do not derive from God are not great expectations. From our text for today, the Psalmist has expectations when he says, I will lift up my eyes. The lifting up of his eyes speaks of expectations.
But what was the source of his expectations? From whence, he says, comes my help? And he says, my help comes from the Lord. The Lord here is Jehovah – Jehovah the self-existent One – the self-sufficient One. The source of his expectations was not the hills, it was God – nothing more, nothing less: nothing else. This is what makes his expectations great. Some of us Christians are tempted sometimes or most of the time to behave like chickens rather than the eagles. We constantly fix our eyes below rather than above – as the Lord commands us to do. In Col. 3:1-3. “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” beloved, this second half of the year, always look up unto God and not unto man.
