DON’T BE CARELESS WITH OPPORTUNITIES THIS SECOND HALF (Wednesday, 15th July 2026)
Text for Today: 1 Cor. 7:17-24 “Were you called while a slave? Do not be deceived about it; but if you can be made free, rather use it.” (vs. 21).
As we conclude out study on steps to take to bringing our plans to pass this second half of the year, the seventh step is for us to MAXIMIZE OPPORTUNITIES THAT COME YOUR WAY. The Bible teaching about making plans encourages us to take advantage of new opportunities. Paul spoke to this principle, “Were you called while a slave? Do not worry about it; but if you are able also to become free, rather do that” (1 Cor. 7:21). Many years ago, while I was growing up as a church worker, while I was also a house fellowship leader, an opportunity came my way during one of our monthly vigil in the church then, when I was informed just 9:55pm, to prepare to take the opening prayer by 10pm for 15 minutes, because one of the service coordinators who was to take it was unavoidably absent.
I was not part of the service coordinators in the church as at then, but I braced up for the challenge immediately. By the grace and help of God, I maximized the opportunity given to me that night and that was how the pastor over that assembly invited me to join the team of service coordinators in the church. Beloved, that was how my ministerial journey started. If I had not maximized the opportunity given to me that night, it’s possible I won’t be where I am today in ministry. At times, some opportunities will not give you enough time to prepare, and that is why you must be prepared always in whatever you do in life. I pray that the seven principles will give you a big boost to reaching your dreams and goals this second half of the year.
