All Growing That Is Not Toward God, Is Growing To Decay

Text for Today: Heb. 5:12-14 “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God.” (vs. 12).

Someone said and I quote, “Spiritual maturity isn’t measured by how high you jump in praise but how straight you walk in obedience.” Spiritual maturity is neither instant nor automatic; it is gradual, progressive development that will take the rest of your life.

Spiritual maturity is not reached by the passing of the years, but by obedience to the will of God. To me, growing into spiritual maturity is becoming less self-conscious and more God-conscious.

For those who believe in God and consider themselves converted Christians, thinking and acting more mature is a daily struggle. The ability to display Godly love is a key sign of a mature Christian.

The apostle Paul stated to the Ephesians church that they should walk or live in love just as Christ practiced when he walked the earth(Ephes. 5:1-2). Believers are to develop the character to love on a spiritual plane.

The more of God’s spirit in us and the more we yield to its influence, the better our ability to love as God does will become. Paul wrote that God pours out the love he has into us through the effective working of his spirit(Rom. 5:5).

There are many people who think they have reached maturity in the faith but in reality they act more like little spiritual children.

What reasons do people use to justify their view that they (or even someone else) are more grown up and ‘spiritual’ than others? However, when the chips are down, you will discover they are still babes. Beloved, until you are tested and tried, you cant be said to be spiritually matured.

You are a Champion!
