BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU SAY AND PROTECT YOUR LIFE (Wednesday, 15th April 2026)

Text for Today: Prov. 13:1-4 “He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.” (vs. 3).

Those who always have the future in mind will be more careful of the things they do today, because its consequences will wait ahead for them. Never do something permanently foolish just because you are temporarily upset, was the counsel I gave to a woman who came to me for counseling and was ready to quit her marriage because of a misunderstanding between her and her husband. She told me herself that, she said all manners of derogatory words to her husband in the midst of the misunderstanding. The day a man fails to be conscious of the kind of words that proceed from his mouth, he has set in motion his own downfall without knowing.

As we continue our study on the wonders of self-control, the second wonder we are considering is that, PEOPLE WITH SELF-CONTROL WATCH THEIR WORDS. They put their minds in gear before opening their mouths: “Be careful of what you say and protect your life. A careless talker destroys himself.” (Proverbs 13:3, TEV). The tongue is one of the blessings of creation that God has empowered for diverse manifestations. However what God made to be a blessing has become a source of downfall for many due to their inability to manage it with wisdom. Many people have sent themselves to early grave because they could not control their words. Some other people have missed out of great opportunities that could have taken them to the throne earlier than expected, because of the bad use of the tongue. According to our text for today, whoever opens his mouth wide without being careful of what goes out of it will destroy himself ultimately.

You are a Champion!

Further Study: Jam. 3:1-12.

Covenant Prayers

  1. Father, I return all glory back to you for your faithfulness.
  2. I receive grace to watch the words that come out of my mouth.
  3. Every plot of the devil to stop me through negative words will fail.
  4. Father, cause me to prosper in all I will lay my hands upon today.
