DO A SINCERE ASSESSMENT OF YOUR CURRENT STATUS (Friday, 10th July 2026)
Text for Today: Judges 7:1-8 “But the Lord said to Gideon, “The people are still too many; bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there.” (vs. 4a).
Those who don’t know where they are presently won’t be able to figure out the next phase they are due for. The Bible teaching about making plans is to honestly assess your present condition. Jesus said, “For which one of you when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?” (Luke 14:28). Thus, the second step to take in order to launch yourself to where you want to be this second half of the year is to DO A SINCERE ASSESSMENT OF YOUR PRESENT CONDITION. If you don’t know where you are right now, it will be practically difficult to navigate your way out of it and move ahead in life.
Ask yourself questions such as: What is my situation? What are my resources? What is my condition? What are the challenges before me now? After you have established your goals, and appraised what you have at hand, you will see a large gap stretching between the two poles. For example, if you want to be a lawyer, but you don’t have the required high school education result yet – then, there is a large gap between where you are and where you want to be. Your task is to find out how to bridge the gap, and that becomes part of your plan. From our text for today, God helped Gideon to carry out an assessment of the kind of men that were with him before launching out to battle. If Gideon had launched out with the initial multitude without assessing them, it would have ended in a major disaster for them. Always do an assessment of your present condition before going ahead in life.
