Text: Exodus 2:1-10
Ministering: Pastor Wole Dahunsi
The life and the times of Moses
1. Moses was the first abandoned child mentioned in the Bible.
2. The struggle and sacrifice his mother made after his birth show that God has an assignment for him in the future.
3. Pharaoh’s daughter paid Moses’ mother to nurse him after she rescued him from the river.
4. Moses was the baby of the family.
5. Moses was a murderer.
6. Moses worked as a shepherd boy.
7. During the burning bush episode, Moses gave God five lame excuses for why he couldn’t be Israel’s deliverer. Exodus 3:1-4; 9-20.
=> Whatever assignment God permits to come your way, He has already enabled you to get it done; don’t turn it down.
=> Any assignment you turn down, you simply miss an opportunity for the next phase of your life.
8. When Moses insisted that he couldn’t be Israel’s spokesperson because he was a stammerer, God agreed to allow his older brother, Aaron, to speak for him.
=> Aaron was only a spokesperson the first time they went to Pharaoh. After that time, Moses spoke throughout because God gave him utterance.
=> When God gives you an assignment, He backs you up.
9. Moses was 80 years old when he led the children of Israel out of Egypt. Don’t allow your age to serve as a hindrance to kingdom service.
10. Moses was a songwriter. Deuteronomy 32:1-43.
=> Whenever God delivers us, we should sing His praises.
Moses’ life is broken into 3 phases
1. Birth to age 40: He lived as a prince and was in the palace.
2. Ages 40-80: He was a shepherd and had his wilderness experience.
3. He was called and given an assignment by God at age 80. The life he lived from 0-80 was a preparatory phase for the later part of his life.
Things to note
1. Nobody receives God’s word and remains the same. Especially those who have an understanding of the power that accompanies the word of God. With that understanding, you are assured that God’s power will locate and rest upon you whenever you are in His presence.
2. Wherever God’s word is shared, His power flows with it. Psalms 107:20.
3. Anytime a task comes before you, especially kingdom service, or even secularly, do not turn it down. Every assignment is designed to add value to your life.
4. No matter the level you are now, you are more than this. You can attain more than this.
5. Being a believer is the foundation for you to know God deeply. Only those who know God will carry out great exploits.
6. Keep investing in the knowledge of God, and your life will keep getting better.
7. Those who don’t know who God is run helter-skelter and look down on themselves.
8. The more you walk with God, the more you know Him. The more you know God, the more exploits you do.
9. Walking with God must change your life positively, and the first thing that must change is your lifestyle/conduct/behavior. Matthew 7:16.
Prayers
1. Father, cause me to daily increase in the knowledge of who you are indeed, in the name of Jesus.
