Text for Today: Matt. 5:13-16 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” (vs. 14).
Be a light unto the world, a standard to others. You can live in the world and not partake of the sins and pattern of this world.
You can live life joyously, beautifully, unmarred by the ugliness of sin and other vices. Beloved, you must be prepared to influence everyone around you positively; because thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle.
Light and happiness never decrease by being shared. During His earthly ministry, Jesus went about doing good, healing all that were oppressed of the devil for He was anointed with the Holy Ghost and with power (Acts 10:38).
He touched lives in a tremendous way. He brought light to the darkness of many, joy to the sorrowful and peace to the confused. No wonder He said, “I am the light of the world” (John 9:5).
Listen to this, Jesus is in heaven right now and He’s seated at the right hand of God the father. However, He’s still working on earth today; this time, He’s working through you and me.
You received power to do good works like Jesus the moment the Holy Spirit came into your life. (Acts 1:8). No wonder He also called you “the light of the world”.
From the text we read today, Jesus made it clear that “A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid” (Matthew 5:4). It’s a pity that many Christians who ought to be a bridge that leads to Christ have made themselves walls through their questionable attitudes.
Jesus wants you to be light in your house, office, market and schools. He has given you everything you need to bear the kind of fruits that will point people to Jesus.
You are a Champion!
