DON’T BE CARELESS WITH WHAT GOD HAS MADE YOURS (Wednesday, 12th August 2026)
Text for Today: Luke 15:11-31 “Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.”
In the journey of life, there are junctions you get to where no one will give you what you deserve if you don’t place a demand on it. “Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours,” was a consoling but troubling statement the father of the prodigal son told his older son, when he felt used, cheated and not rewarded by him. The father simply told him the plain truth after he reacted negatively because of the heroic welcome he gave to his younger brother, who had squandered all his own inheritance on wasteful living. In the same way in our time, there are people who are presently frustrated because certain things they expected could have happened did not.
Some are very sincere with their expectations, having tried their best to do what was expected of them but yet nothing is coming forth to them. The implication of what the father told his older son was that, everything that remained as regards his assets after his younger brother received his own belongs to him, but he never asked for anything neither did he asked for a party to be thrown for him. The father would have obliged him anything he asked for, but he kept quiet all through until his runaway brother came back and partook of what remained again. Does it make any sense to you at all? Even the Scripture says in John 16:24, “Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” May you not miss out of your reward and possession in Jesus name. You will not labour in vain.
