Hard Work Pays Off In The Future But Laziness Pays Off Now

Text for Today: Prov. 18:1-9 “He who is slothful in his work is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.” (vs. 9).

To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent. It is the working and occupied man who is the happiest, while it is the idle man who is the miserable man.

Whoever hates work in life has no right to trust God for anything, for the Bible says, “And whatsoever you shall lay your hands upon, that the blessing shall come upon.” Unemployment is a universal phenomenon.

The intensity may differ in some parts of the world more than the others, but the fact is that, no country has the capacity to meet up with the employment demand of the citizens.

All over the world right now, there is a massive drive towards entrepreneurship, particular after massive job loss resulting from covid-19 pandemic. Sitting down and expecting a white collar job to come on a platter of gold is a sheer waste of time and destiny; you’ve got to launch out and engage yourself with something productive.

Think of a small enterprise or business you can start around you and make necessary moves towards it. It is not compulsory you practice what you studied in school.

I know of a woman in Nigeria, who studied Law, but is a force to reckon with in the fashion industry in the nation today. Idleness on its own is a sickness.

Jesus Christ knew this principle when He was going to appoint His disciples, and that was why majority of them were dutifully engaged when He called them to follow Him. Also, David was busy tending his father’s sheep before God gave him a bigger assignment to lead a nation.

You are a Champion!

Further Study: Luke 5:1-11.

Covenant Prayers

  • Father, I thank you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
  • I cast out every spirit of idleness and laziness from my life.
  • Lord, grant me grace to be resourceful and industrious in life.
  • Father, cause better and bigger opportunities to come my way.

QUOTE: “IF YOU CHOOSE TO BE IDLE AND LAZY, YOU ARE NOT A CANDIDATE TO BE ELEVATED BY HEAVEN.”
