No Test, No Promotion!
Text for Today: Gen. 22:1-18 “Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham…” (vs. 1).
The journey of life is always interjected with series of tests of life, meant to assess us and thereafter move us higher in life. However, it is unfortunate that many people are not conscious of these tests neither are they prepared for it all.
And this has landed many people in terrible situations they are battling with in life. Our walk with God and all that we claim to know and be will be tested from time to time.
Since the Bible says, “By their fruits we shall know them.” Until you get to the level of going through your tests before God, you have not started a serious journey with him.
From our text for today, we could see how Abraham was tested, how he passed the test and how he got elevated to a level he never imagined. A man who had no child at age 99 years, became the father of many nations and was also prosperous in all things.
Why did God test Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac? (Gen. 22) Because of what He planned to do through him. God was saying if you pass this test I will make you (a) the father of many nations (b) the standard by which faith is measured (c) an example to the world on what it means to walk in my blessings.
What you have been taught or what you have read from God’s words or what you claim from His promises is worthless until it is put to practice. As you trust God to take you to the next level in life, be prepared to face the next test of life. Always remember, “No test, no promotion!”
